I know 94% of the people out there don’t know what RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is so it’s probably pointless to post this, but I will. But first (for those 6% who do know) I fixed the images on the feed, so they should now show up on your reader. You 6% percent could just skip the rest.

Now back to the RSS explanation for the rest of the population. If you scroll to the bottom of this page you’ll notice an orange RSS button. Clicking that button links you to another version of this blog that can only be read by RSS reader programs and some web browsers. If your browser can’t read it, you’ll just get an error message or a lot of weird code. An RSS reader is a program that reads from that special link (called a feed) and displays the same stuff I have on my blog. There are many RSS readers out there, just Google them and find out. I have one called FeedReader. They are generally all the same, you copy the address from an RSS link (feed) from your browser, go into your Reader program, add a new feed and paste it the link address.

Know you might say “Why use a Reader to view this stuff when I could just use the web browser and visit your blog?” Well a Reader program automatically updates when new information is added. If I add a new blog entry, it’ll automatically appear in your reader. You are in essence “suscribing” to news, wheter it be hard news articles or blog entries. It’s also pretty stripped down. You only get the basic text and picture information, no fancy borders or weird page layouts. You can of course have many different feeds from many pages. Almost every blog or news page has an RSS links (some call it XML).

So basically the only difference between an RSS feed and going to the webpage blog is that with a webpage you go to the information, with an RSS feed the information comes to you. And the whole reason I wrote this is just because the images on my blog weren’t working on the RSS feed, now they are. If I confused you, just do some Googling for RSS. To be honest, I don’t read RSS feeds 🙂 I just wanted to fix this problem for those 6% of you who do.

Though this is a great way to distribute online comics. That’s what got me to find this image error in the first place.
