My father loves his action movies. He’s a colombian immigrant who can barely speak or understand English but you don’t need to understand anything when watching a cliche action movie. I was talking to a friend about the new Rocky movie that’s going to come out, and somehow the conversation got into old action movie, their stars, and my father. After I left my friends house and got home, lo and behold my father is watching Chuck Norris 80’s flick. I don’t know which one it was but he was wearing black pants and a vest and fight a South American drug lord. The coincidence is that we were taking about Chuck in particular, to be exact we were discussing the ridiculous “Walker Texas Ranger” clips on Conan O’ Brian. I made my father watch Mystic River last night, and I think he liked it, but it was no action movie, there wasn’t even one explosion, and only 2 or 3 henchmen.
This movie looks like crap but it makes no difference to my father, he’s enjoying the shit out it. There’s about 10 guys shooting at Chuck with assault rifles and shoulder rockets and somehow he’s killing them off with a hand gun. He’s taking cover behind a haystack! My cousin is in the marines and he tells me that bullets can go through cinder blocks. Sigh. After seeing the clips on Conan it’s now hilarious when I see Mr. Norris jump kicking someone in slow motion and my father is eating it all up. Hell, the said the Street Fighter movie was good. Well whatever…that’s all. Oh, I think it’s called the Delta Force, or maybe that’s movie that’s coming next.
