Captain Planet revision

I decided to try another technique on the Captain Planet illustration.

Old One

New One

Like always, the image can be found in the illustrations page.

i don’t know why this has been done, but something will be done about this disgusting and horrifying image.

but then again, the person who really hung there said, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”

Think about that. Do you know what you’re doing when you post things like this?

This is an all-around grotesque image and if there is anyway that it be taken off the internet fully and completely, maybe the Pope won’t have to be notified.

    Thanks in advance

Hmm people don’t seem to like this picture much. I like it. It has a message and it isn’t a message of blasphemy. Jesus wasn’t the only person who was ever crucified. Captain Planet, like Jesus, is trying to change people, and it seems somebody didn’t like it so they had him crucified. Damn.

When I did this my reason was “Let me see how I can offend Catholics” (being a catholic myself). Reading stories of the bush meat problem in Africa and suburban sprawl here at home. I felt nobody is out there looking out for nature. As a kid every time I went fishing with my father he always told my brothers and I that all this nature, the trees, birds, plants, the river, it was all gods creation. Man could never create something as beautiful. So it pains me every time I see its destruction. Captain Planet on the cross was a comparison, a good person who was betrayed and killed. I see how it can be seen as belittling Jesus, but that’s not what I meant to do. If the world followed Jesus’ examples the world would be a better place. Anyway as you can see by the previous post, even Jesus agrees :)

Just like a bunch of lukewarm-faithed Christians to misconstrue commentary on environmental politics as an attack on their beliefs.

Man, this is great. I thought all those people who were saying “this is sick” were joking. But.. they’re not? Poor things, it seems the most devout do not understand the symbolism of their most famous myth (and i don’t mean ‘myth’ in the derogatory sense of the word, i mean ‘myth’ in the strongest sense of the word - a tale that inspires and educates others in it’s fundamental lesson) For if they did, they’d realise it was nothing to be offended about. I weep for the world when such stupidity is so rampant.

I think people are over reacting.
this is a great piece, shows a damn good amount of skill.
I’m an illustrator myself and i think you did helluva job on the revision.
Much cleaner, beautiful coloring in the 2nd one.

As for the “Omg I’m kinda Christian, but ill be a Sheep and not think for myself” people.
Stop being a bunch of pussies, you seem to NOT grasp the concept of this illustration.

    Again great work.

    Agreed.

I especially like the images’ symbolism.
